Some 354 runners toed the line at this year’s Hanover Day Road Race, which kicked off the second day of Hanover’s annual festival. Despite muggy conditions, the race saw swarms of runners take on Hanover’s rolling backroad course.

In the women’s race, Hannah Geary looked comfortable from start to finish as she broke the tape for first in 20:55. Geary’s time was good for 9th overall. Taking second in 21:30 was Carole Vincent, who closed her final 200 meters in an all-out sprint. Meghan Laybourn, Tricia Gibbins, and Julie Craig were all within 14 seconds of each other to take 3rd, 4th, and 5th, respectively.

In the men’s race, a sprint kick in the final 200 meters was all that separated Hanover 5k race winner Jacob Edgar from second and third place finishers Luke Edgar and Eric Pilsmaker. Edgar’s winning time of 20:04 gave him little breathing room with Luke Edgar (20:07) and Pilsmaker (20:08) finishing just seconds behind.
